2009 Annual General Meeting
Gathering in Peace

Plan to join us February 20-22, 2009 in Salem, Oregon
for PNWD’s 47th Annual General Meeting.

Call for Workshops

The theme of our 2009 AGM is "Gathering in Peace." Workshops should focus on how UU congregations can bring more peace into our lives, our congregations and our communities. The UU liberal religious message differs from that of many other American religions, yet our key values of reason, freedom and tolerance are core American values.

An important workshop focus is on how to deepen and share our UU values. Workshops should also focus on spiritual insights to nurture our work on social change. Special consideration will be given to workshops that offer new ideas that NW UU congregations can adopt, such as small group ministries, worship services or social change programs. Workshops should last 60-to-75 minutes each.

Proposals should include:

  • Workshop name and contact information (phone & e-mail)
  • Presenter(s) name(s) and title(s)
  • A brief description of the workshop and how it will be presented
  • Bulleted learning objectives for participants and/or a statement of what the participants can expect to learn (If your workshop is accepted for presentation, this statement will become the 50-to-100 word workshop description used to promote your workshop to participants — please write it with this in mind.)
  • A list of dates and locations of prior workshop presentations, if any
  • A list of needed equipment. (Typically the costs for special audio-visual equipment rented from the facility or elsewhere are paid by the presenter. Please consider bringing your own equipment.)
  • Description of how best to arrange the workshop room for your presentation.

No compensation, expense reimbursement or reduction in registration is provided to workshop presenters. Our AGM is co-created by all PNWD congregations.

Please submit workshop proposals as soon as possible by e-mail to Phil Carver at philip.carver@comcast.net or send a hard copy through the U.S. Postal Service to 365 20th St. NE, Salem, OR 97301. Proposals will be accepted until Sept. 5. We will notify you whether your workshop has been accepted by Oct. 5
